We are pleased to have received requests for materials to study math at home. Please follow the Math Team Coaches' philosophy when using them:
- Our goal is to foster a love of finding creative ways to use math without the pressure of grades or completing a certain amount of work. Taking time to deeply understand will help students more in the long run and in other areas. This follows the classical education concept of Festina Lente (make haste slowly.)
- Use these tools with the intention of supporting your child's process of bringing confusion into understanding. Celebrate their confusion as an important part of the learning process.
- School of Grammar students have many years of academic competition ahead; consider their journey as a marathon rather than a sprint!
- When using tests, discuss the budgeting of time and strategy of starting with problems they know they can solve; this is an important testing skill in itself. Students should also make a good effort of finding their own solution before using the answer/solutions key.
- Please do not share the files with those who are not enrolled on the team.
